Cutie Coop at Opryland

Today we went to meet dad and Gina at the Opryland Hotel. They were there with Gina's HOSA group, so we went to hang out and walk around. Cooper loved walking up and down the pathways, but would randomly sit down and people would have to walk around him. He eventually got to tired and just wanted to be held. He loved the waterfalls. He reached out and touched the water a few times, but it was pretty cold.

Saturday

This morning Cooper woke us up super early, so I got up and turned on Mickey Mouse and went back to bed. This has become the norm in our house on saturdays. Once we got up, I got ready and spent my morning at this place...

It was fabulous. I got the best leg and foot massage ever. The one thing I love about being pregnant is actually getting to go pamper myself. I would otherwise never spend money on something that I know perfectly well how to do myself at home. Then I came home and layed out in the sun. I got a nice red glow to me now. Oops.
    After this we got ready to take Cooper to the Monkey's Treehouse across the road from our church. Our preschool department was having a kids night and they reserved it for us and got us Jets pizza and cupcakes. We sat Cooper down and the minute his little feet hit the ground, he was gone. He loves these play places. He found a ball pit that occupied most of his time. He would occasionally walk by us and smile, but he was on the go the entire time. It was a lot of fun.

   

Grandad comes to babysit

This morning I went back to have my 3r glucose test. I had to fast for almost 12 hours and then drink the glucose stuff and then have labs drawn every hour for 3 hours. I was pretty dizzy and sick feeling for the first 2 hours. I layed in a chair in the waiting room. I think I scared all the patients. They looked at me very funny. By the third hour I guess the stuff was wearing off because I was able to at least sit up. The good thing is, dad was able to babysit Cooper. He's either out of town or Cooper is in therapy, but this morning worked out perfect because dad was here and Coop didn't have therapy until 2:00. They played all morning and then Cooper took his traditional 2 1/2 hour nap!! Gigi sent some goodies along with dad. One of the things is a bunny that you pull the string and it plays music. At first Coop looked at it and threw it, but later on today he got real interested in that bunny. He started hugging on it and carrying it around the house. As you can see here...he kind of likes it!!

And by the way, failed that glucose test miserably, now I go see an endocrinologist. Oh goody

2 yr Cardiology visit

Cooper see's the cardiologist every year since having his heart surgery. This was the best appointment we have had so far. His valves are still leaking, and will probably continue to leak. He doesn't have any blockage below the aortic valve and his echo and ekg were great. She thought she heard a slight murmur, but is not concerned at all. I had a slight murmur as a teen and now it's gone. He did much better at laying still during his echo as well. He watched him some fraggle rock and we sang songs, and it wasn't as bad as I had anticipated. Next year she is going to take him off of his enalapril. Shortly after surgery they tried this and it made the leaking a little worse, but she thinks we are far enough away from surgery that now it should be ok. After the 2 1/2 hour appointment, I took him downstairs to Ben and Jerry's to share some ice cream. That wasn't exactly what I needed the day before I take my 3 hr glucose test...but hey...it was good!!

This is a sloppy sign, but it's "book". He signed book all day. We read mickey mouse probably 15 times.

While in the waiting room we saw another boy with DS. He looked to be in his teens. The nurse came out and called his name and he jumped up, ran across the room with the biggest smile on his face saying that's me...that's me...here I am. I was getting so tickled we had to put mickey mouse down for a minute. His dad looked at Cooper and said I bet he likes to eat constantly like you. He was a chunky teen, as Im sure Coop will be too. It comes with the chromosome.

Bedhead

One thing that comes along with Cooper's luscious locks of blondeness is his fabulous bedhead. If it is even a little damp when he goes to bed, he wakes up with all types of crazy waves and curls. And yet at the Dr office today he still got compliments on his hair. He had to hang out with me at my OB appt today. I had to do my blood glucose test. I just let Cooper roam the halls while we waited an hour. His favorite thing was chasing the people that came by in wheelchairs. This kid loves wheels.

 Zac has qualitites similar to that of my sister when she was younger. "Take my picture mama" Yes, Zac you are a beauty!!

 Cooper started screaming during naptime today, so I went in and peeked in the door. Bless his heart, he had his leg, all the way up to his thigh stuck in the railing. It took me a little bit to get it out.

!st Dental Appointment

This morning I took Cooper to the Dentist for his first checkup. We drove out to Hendersonville and I gave Cooper an antibiotic one hour before his appt for his heart. We get there and he really likes the office. They have multi colored fans and all kinds of kid friendly stuff.Cooper was all smiles. They took him back to a private room so that his screams wouldn't scare the other kids. The hygienist brushed his teeth and said ok I dont see any cavities, he's good to go. I looked at her with an expression on my face that clearly said "are you stupid?" She said he didnt really need a cleaning. I told her that I drove all this way, gave him and antibiotic and payed $136 dollars for a cleaning, clean his teeth. So she cleaned them and then brought the dentist in and we held Coop down for about 2 minutes and it was all over with. Not too bad.

Valentines day

Today Cooper and I played outside for a long time. Then we came in and Cooper helped me make cookies for Zac. At first he just played in the grease that was on the pan and then he started patting the dough. Once that got boring he picked up the dough and chucked it across the room. I stood in line at the pharmacy forever and I had a mother come up to me and say she has never seen a child love his mother more than Cooper loves me. That made my day a lot better!! People have said that to me several times before, but today it just meant a little more.

After all that Zac came home early and we exchanged gifts. He got me a pedicure (which I never in a million years would have expected) He knows I cant reach my feet anymore though. I got him a dvd and now we are going to get out of this house and go eat!!

Sunny Day

Since it was so beautiful out today, we finally let Cooper outside. He fell off the driveway at first and skinned his hand. He learned though where the uneven parts of the sidewalk were and steered clear of them. He was so excited to run up and down the sidewalk. It was great being outdoors.

He's come a long way

I donwloaded all the pictures from my cell phone today and wanted to put some up on my blog. We were in the hospital this times 2 years ago. It seems like a lifetime ago. Cooper just keeps getting more precious everyday!!                            This was his 1st cardiology appt after birth
