Hank's Party

Friday after school mom picked up the boys so that I could do some decorating and cleaning. Cooper got to ride this little car for the first time at their house and he loved it. I was really surprised at how well he did. He had to sit on the very edge of the seat, but he could reach the petal. They came back that morning and we prepared some food and set the table up. Most of the kids we invited couldn't come because we passed the stomach bug to them. So sorry to all of you for that. It was still crazy though with just the few kids we have. I don't think there is a way to have a calm birthday party. Of course the Kake Lady outdid herself on my cake. It was perfect. We sang Happy Birthday to Hank and I sat the topper of his cake on his tray, but he really didn't want anything to do with it. He was much happier when Zac handed him some nilla wafers. After that we started opening gifts. I tried to sit Hank on the table but he was scared so he sat in his high chair and Cooper, Emma and Cayden sat on the table. We have a high top table so I figure everyone can see better if the kids are up high. Hank loved all the little cars that he got. His little smile was precious. He got a lot of fun toys and super cute clothes. After we opened gifts, we went outside and set up a bubble machine that he had gotten and let all the kids play in the bubbles. It was such a fun 1st birthday and Hank has been in the playroom ever since playing with all his new toys.

Happy Birthday Hank

Oh Hank, you have been such a wonderful joy (for the past 5 months). For the first few months of your life you made us all want to die with your colic and screaming. I have to admit, I have never been so happy to have a baby turn 1. You have to be the most beautiful child under the sun. I can't go anywhere without having someone tell me how gorgeous you are. As of today, you are walking behind toys, standing independently for a few seconds at a time. You love eating nilla wafers, in fact this morning as I grocery shopped, you sat in the cart and ate out of the box of wafers. You are by far a carboholic like your mom. It's hard to get you to eat anything but oatmeal and crackers. You absolutely love following Cooper around and copying what he does. You light up when I put him in the car after school. Don't worry, one day he will reciprocate the emotion. Right now you just annoy him. I'm so in love with both you and Cooper. I never knew I could be so happy. Happy Birthday sweet Henry Isaac, mama and daddy love you so much.

He's better

Yesterday was the first day of no vomit in my house. Yay!!! Today Hank is way better. He is laughing and playing and eating. So nice to have that sweet healthy baby back. His birthday is tomorrow!! I was going to be so sad if he was still sick. He was helping eat a box of wheat thins for lunch. I can eat about 40 to his 1.

 His hand is still pretty nasty but I bought this wrap and am keeping it wrapped up. He still tries to eat his hand though.

Monday

I finally broke down and took Hank to the Dr. Only to confirm what we already knew. He has a virus and he is very well hydrated, so just keep riding it out. He told us we can still expect another 2 days of this. Oh joy. I also had him look at Hank's hand. He has been teething on the palm of his hand and it has blistered, opened and now he's biting deeper into it. They told me to sew (I'm not going to sew his shirts closed, I'll tie them in a knot) the end of along sleeved shirt closed until it heels. I assumed it was normal for babies to eat themselves but the Dr looked shocked.

Day 6

Just so everyone can share in our family misery....tomorrow will be day 7 of the stomach bug. Hank just threw up his oatmeal all in his crib. I have done non stop laundry for 6 days. Zac and I have both already caught and recovered from the bug and yet poor little Hank is still going strong.

Hankersons first stomach bug

Hank caught it....yesterday morning he threw up all of his breakfast. Cooper was still not well enough to go to school. So I had both boys at home and one sick. However when Cooper has the bug, he lays on a towel and does not move, thus making clean up very easy. Hank on the other hand continues to stuff his face with food, then plays, then throws up. Tonight while I was feeding him his bottle, he looked so suspicious as if he was figuring out that food was the cause of all this stomach discomfort. He kept staring at me and then looking side to side as if he was really thinking about something. I sat him up and he pulled the bottle out of his mouth and spit the milk that was in his mouth out. He just looked at his bottle. It was actually pretty funny.

 He wasn't very photogenic today either, but I at least had to capture his first stomach bug.

He woke up from his nap today crying and his bed was soaked. It looked like cottage cheese had just been thrown around. The smell about knocked me out. Needless to say I had to air his room out, clean the carpet, remove the bedding and mattress and clean the entire crib.
