Granna and Pops

Thursday and Friday night Cooper and Hank stayed with Pop and Granna. They had a blast going to the river, swimming, catching bugs, etc. I have a few pictures from Cyndi of their adventures!!

A trip down the Harpeth

Zac had the idea a while back to go canoeing down the Harpeth River. Last year we all got together and went zip lining, so this year we all got together and went canoeing. It was a lot of fun. Cyndi kept Cooper and Hank at home, while Zac, me, Gavin, Amy, Brenton, Greg and mom all went to Tip-a-canoe to rent canoes and one kayak. Brenton started out in the kayak, but we all tried it at some point. I loved the kayak but after a while it really burns your arms, we all gave up on the kayak after about 10  minutes but Brenton did that thing almost the whole time. I have no idea how he did it. About the last hour, Zac and I were both hurting, we decided maybe the 2 hour trip would be plenty if we do this again. At some point in the trip we ran into mom and Greg on the bank side. Turns out they had gotten up under a log and their canoe flipped, filled with water and was sinking!! I have no idea how Zac and I were so oblivious to this. We had no idea though until we see mom and Greg soaking wet standing up on the banks. Some people helped them get the water out and they were back on their way. We got out to swim a few times and took a few coke breaks, but all together we made pretty good timing. We made it down the river which someone said was 13 miles, in about 3 1/2 hours. As we came to the end, we all put our canoes up on the banks and saw another canoe pull a "mom and Greg" incident. They got stuck under a tree and their canoe flipped. It took about 5 guys to get it out. Zac and Gavin were talking about how crazy hard it was to get that canoe up after it had sunk. We all got on the bus and headed back to our cars. Once we got home, Cyndi had picked up chicken from chick fil a. She, mom and I had all made sides and desserts to go along with it, and we had a nice yummy huge dinner!!! We had a pretty great day.

 At our first stop Zac laid his glasses down on top of the kayak and they fell off. Brenton found then right at the edge of the water, thank goodness. Well later on Zac found a rock to jump off of and he grabbed his glasses mid air, but as he hit the water, they sunk!!

Knee

Ok, I finally (fingers crossed) know what is wrong with my knee. After an xray and mri showed nothing, I went to see an orthopedist today. He had me bend my knee and took an xray of behind my knee cap. First of all my left knee doesn't sit straight, it curves a little, my right knee does the same thing but not as bad. Apparently my knee cap has been rubbing into my iliotibial band and has caused pain and inflammation. The Dr put me in a brace that will keep my knee cap in the correct spot until that iliotibial band has had time to heal. I also will have 3 weeks of physical therapy and they will teach me things to do at home to help correct that. And hopefully this all works and I'll be running again in a few weeks!!! I can also exercise in this new brace to prevent the same thing from happening again. Here are the pictures that I googled so this makes more sense.


As soon as he told me what it was, it made so much sense because I have been saying to Zac that I felt like the pain was shooting up my leg into my hip. And that iliotibial band runs from your knee straight up to your hip.

 And then here you can see the knee cap, mine is turned toward that iliotibial band. Needless to say I was amazed at all the pictures and should have paid more attention in anatomy, I would have really enjoyed it.

Friday Night

Friday afternoon Cyndi and Brenton came up. Cyndi was helping me make one of her recipes, so they came over around 3:30 and we cooked a little while Brenton played with the boys. Zac got home around 4. After supper we went down to the river to let the boys throw rocks in. It was all they could do to keep themselves out of the water. Cooper would inch his bottom toward the water until his shoes were wet and Zac would back him away from the water. After playing for a while a man came to put his canoe in so we headed out. The boys were muddy of course, but had a lot of fun. We put them in the tub, got them ready for bed and then did the hokey pokey a few times before reading our Bible story and getting in bed. Zac left around 8 to go to Zanies comedy club and around 2:20 am I heard him come home. I usually veg out in front of a night long marathon of American Pickers on Friday nights, but for some horrible unknown reason, history channel changed the line up and I was super bored. I did a lot on pinterest though!!

This morning the boys got me up nice and early, so I went to the playroom and laid on the couch so Zac could get some sleep. We had a nice lazy morning. After the boys ate lunch and went down for naps, I went to the pool to lay out. Zac ended up napping with the boys for about 2 hours, then when they all woke up he brought them down to the pool to play. Cooper's friend Link from school was at the pool and I know how much his brother Brock loves the movie Hotel Transylvania (he used to watch it all the time in the car when we would drop the kids off at school). Knowing this I looked over at Zac and said watch this, and asked Brock what his favorite movies was. Of course this got him on the Hotel Transylvania kick. So with that said, Zac went out and rented the movie for Cooper and Hank tonight. We pulled the mattress into the playroom and got all settled in for movie night. BUST....the boys were so wild jumping and playing on the mattress, they didn't watch more than 2 minutes of the movie...until...the Credits....

Father's Day through Wednesday

Zac was on call this past weekend, so Saturday I took the boys to the pool and Zac met up with us after work. More of the same on Sunday. Zac brought home Newks for his (our) fathers day lunch and then we laid on the couch and watched tv while Hank napped. Of course I ended up falling asleep for like 2 hours. In the meantime, Zac had taken the boys down to Newsoms Mill to play in the water. I opted out of that little trip since my knee was bugging me. It was a fun day though, I think Zac enjoyed his time with the kids. Monday the boys and I drove to Sparta to see Kara and Bruce. We stopped and ate our Sonic at Papa and Granny's before heading over to Laura's house. Apparently Laura's house looked like a fun play place to my boys because I spent most of the time trying to keep them confined to the living room. They kept Bruce entertained though. After that the boys went home with Mom because I had an OB appointment the next morning that I did not want to bring my crazy turkeys to. After my appointment I came home and started pulling out consignment stuff for the sale in August. I got so much done before the boys got back that night. This morning I took the boys to church for story time. During the puppet portion of story time, Cooper was so excited, he kept walking up to the puppet and hugging it and then he would sit down very briefly before the urge to hug it again came on. They had a good time. They made bunny's out of marshmallows and icing. I barely got Hanks bunny made before he ate it!! Cooper played with his marshmallow for a long time and even put it to his tongue and tried tasting it!! As soon as we got back home, I put Cooper on the potty (he was dry) and he immediately went pee pee, and he went a lot. I know he was holding it in, and I really do feel like  he is starting to understand this a little better now.
